Service Description

Lesson Time: 2nd May: 6.30pm-8.30pm 9th May: 6.30pm-8.30pm 16th May: 6.30pm-8.30pm 23rd May: 6.30pm-8.30pm Teacher: Yasmin Hamouda Repetition and consistent practice are key to gaining confidence on the pottery wheel. The more you throw, the more comfortable and familiar you become with the process. This course is not about producing lots of work, it's more about gaining confidence on the wheel . Through repeated throwing, you become more attuned to how clay responds to your touch. This understanding allows you to predict and control the behavior of the clay, leading to greater confidence in shaping and forming your pieces. Through repetition, you can refine your throwing technique. Small adjustments to your hand positions, pressure, and timing become more intuitive, allowing you to fine-tune your skills and achieve lovely results!. Yasmin Hamouda will be teaching this course. Yasmin is a ceramicist specialising in beautiful tableware for restaurants. She is a chef herself and makes lots of repetitive work on the wheel. Throughout your time in the studio, you will be taught various techniques on how to create the same shape and size with a specific amount of clay. You will all be given the same amount of clay to work with. You will be working towards making a set of 4 pieces which are the same shape and size. This course can be for beginners or students wanting to review techniques on the wheel and gain more confidence. There will be a maximum of 6 students in this class which means you will get lots of guidance throughout! The 4th week will be trimming your pieces. We will be glazing your pieces for you. You can choose up to 4 glazes from my collection and all pieces will go through 2 firings reaching up to 1250 degrees. Finished pieces can be collected up to 3 weeks after your 4th session. REFUND POLICY Unfortunately I will not be able to offer a refund on this class. Please make sure you are certain on the dates you book as It can be difficult to get a new student in with short notice. If for some reason you can not attend please consider passing your place onto a friend/family member. If you are unable to attend one class session then I'm afraid you will not be able to top this session up at another time as this course is product specific. You can however book a drop in class to practise more. I will need at least 3 people booked onto this class for it to go ahead.
