POTTERY WHEEL TASTER WORKSHOP

  • 2 hr
  • 85 British pounds
  • Dartmouth Road

Service Description

This 2 hour session is a fun, interactive start to the pottery wheel. You will be taught how to prepare, centre and throw a simple shapes on the wheel such as a cylinder and a bowl which are the most important shapes to learn when first starting out. There will only be 6 participants in this lesson making it feel more like a private tuition class as opposed to a really large group. An email will be sent out to you a week before your class starts with more information on what to bring and wear to the session, along with the studio address. Most importantly, long nails need to be cut! This session is mainly aimed at beginners but if you have worked on the wheel before, it is a great way to learn new techniques. 3 pieces will be kept from this session. 15 minutes before the lesson finishes will be spent cleaning your wheel and tools. You will then be shown five glazes for you to choose for your pieces. After your lesson, your work will be trimmed, glazed and fired which may take up 3-4 weeks to complete. You will then be able to collect your pieces from my studio. Your work will go through two firings. The first firing will reach 1000 degrees and the second will reach 1250 degrees in my electric kiln. WHATS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE The price of this lesson includes pre-lesson preparation, tuition, the clay you use and glazes, two separate firings and the additional time it takes to finish your pots (Trimming and glazing). REFUND POLICY I will not be able to offer a refund on taster classes. Please make sure you are certain on the dates you book. If for some reason you can not attend I can only accept 7 days in advance and your spot on the class can be exchanged for another class but not refunded. I will need at least 3 people to attend workshops in order for it to go ahead. If the workshop does not book up, I will let you know in advance and we can book you onto another date.
