KIDS POTTERY WHEEL TASTER WORKSHOP

Service Description

This brand new 1.5 hour session is a fun, interactive start to the pottery wheel specifically for children aged between 9-12 years old. Participants will be taught how to prepare, centre and throw simple shapes on the wheel. These classes will not focus on making lots of pots to keep. We want kids to really enjoy these sessions without the pressure of making specific shapes. There will a maximum of 6 participants in this lesson making it feel more like a private tuition class as opposed to a large group. 2 pieces will be kept from this session. Participants will then be shown five glazes to choose for their pieces. After the lesson, work will need time to dry and then be trimmed, glazed and fired by us in the studio which may take up 4 weeks to complete. You will then be able to collect the finished pieces from my studio. All work will go through two firings. The first firing will reach 1000 degrees and the second will reach 1250 degrees in my electric kiln. LESSON GUIDELINES Please bring an apron or wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Clay will wash out. Please cut long nails and tie hair back. Parents/carers we do not mind if you want to stay in the studio during the lesson or there are a few coffee shops near by if you would like to relax for 1.5 hours!. WHATS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE The price of this lesson includes pre-lesson preparation, tuition, the clay they use and glazes, two separate firings, the additional time it takes to finish your pots (Trimming and glazing) and the clean up after the lesson which also includes reclaiming pots that have been discarded. Kids classes are usually very messy! which we totally encourage but it takes time to clean up after the lesson. From experience, we do get kids who like to clean! but we don't mind doing this ourselves. REFUND POLICY I will not be able to offer a refund on taster classes. Please make sure you are certain on the dates you book. If for some reason you can not attend I can only accept 7 days in advance and your spot on the class can be exchanged for another class but not refunded. I will need at least 3 people to attend workshops in order for it to go ahead. If the workshop does not book up, I will let you know in advance and we can book you onto another date or I can make a refund.
