JULY- LARGE VASE WORKSHOP

Please press 'Book Now' below and click 5th July on the calendar to book. Learn how to make a large slab built vase. Melisa will be teaching this workshop. Clay slabs will be prepared for you before the start of the lesson. We will ask students to bring in some ideas of shapes they would like to draw onto the clay to then cut out and create a vase. We will guide you through each step and help you with your ideas. 15 minutes before the lesson finishes will be spent cleaning your work area and tools. After your lesson, your work will be glazed and fired which may take up 4-5 weeks to complete. Your work will go through two firings. The first firing will reach 1000 degrees and the second will reach 1250 degrees in my electric kiln. Having a maximum of 6 students in the class is a great way to ensure that each participant receives plenty of guidance and attention from the teacher. This allows for a more personalised and hands-on learning experience, which is especially helpful for beginners or those who wish to review pottery techniques. The price of this lesson includes pre-lesson preparation (preparing clay, rolling out slabs for the vases), tuition, the clay you use and glazes, two separate firings and the additional time it takes to finish your pots (Trimming and glazing). We will need at least 3 people booked onto this class for it to go ahead.
